On May 19, 1970, God blessed Richard and Carolyn Reynolds with a son. They gave him his father’s name, Richard. Raised in Louisville, KY with his younger brother Ahmad, his parents provided him with love, support, and a commitment to Christ. While growing up, he sang in the youth choir and attended Sunday school at Westwood Presbyterian Church without a thought of later becoming a pastor, but he knew he was different and was destined for a life set apart from his peers.

Like many teenage boys, the streets had their appeal, but God drew Pastor Reynolds away from reckless behavior and into the nurturing walls of St. Stephen Baptist Church. In 1990, under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Cosby, he was led to give his life back to Christ, submit to baptism, and serve in Christian ministry. Pastor Reynolds developed a relationship with an associate minister by the name of Stacey Spencer at St. Stephen (now pastor of New Directions Christian Church, Memphis, TN) and this friend saw the call of God on his life. Pastor Spencer asked him to teach Sunday school and that was pivotal in his transformation to one walking in the will of God. Within 18 months of teaching Sunday school, Pastor Reynolds studied and served to become a deacon at St. Stephen Baptist Church. By 1994, he announced his call to ministry before his church family and in 1995 he joined the staff of St. Stephen Baptist Church as the Youth Pastor. At this point, God had certainly taken over his life and provision had been made for his next steps in the journey towards pastoring New Revelation Christian Church.

His undergraduate degree in Pan African Studies from the University of Louisville, prepared him to co-found and lead Motivation Associates in 2001. Purposed with mentoring minority teens disconnected from the history of their greatness and potential of their future, Motivation Associates was integral in Pastor Reynolds developing the skills and leadership necessary for community collaborations and mission driven initiatives. As a result of the many blessings God gave Motivation Associates, Pastor Reynolds established the Center for Excellence in 2002, a 501 © 3 non-profit community service provider.

Community work remained a priority that Pastor Reynolds was committed to when called to be the Assistant Pastor of Greater Salem Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. In this role, he served as a teacher, counselor, worship leader, and preacher. The experience at Greater Salem Baptist Church lit a spark in the heart of Pastor Reynolds that sent him on a quest toward higher learning. In 2003, now a husband to his lovely wife Tonya and father of two, he attended a revival in Indianapolis, IN featuring Bishop Clarence McClendon. Upon leaving the revival, God instructed him to transition his membership to Light of the World Christian Church, serve under the leadership of Bishop T. Garrott Benjamin, Jr., and attend Christian Theological Seminary. At Light of the World, Pastor Reynolds served as a pastoral intern leading worship, teaching young adults, and preaching the gospel of Jesus. To the glory of God, he received his Master of Divinity Degree from Christian Theological Seminary in the spring of 2009 and was ordained by the Christian Church Disciples of Christ on July 12, 2009.

On Sunday, September 20, 2009, God rained down blessings and poured out His Spirit at 4401 E. 62nd Street in Indianapolis, Indiana. Under the submitted and anointed leadership of Rev. Richard Reynolds, New Revelation Christian Church opened its doors for the first time. Over 200 people came in looking to be blessed and received an affirming word, “The Birth of a Nation.” Lady Tonya and their children Jordan, Maeson, and Coleman join him in lifting the hearts of God’s people. They have a family that exhibits the beauty of God’s love and all that is possible through Christ. The rest of history is being written as Pastor Reynolds encourages his congregation to lead the community in love and live in revelation.
